The Parable of Eve – Look #1
In the beginning, she walked among flowers—unashamed, unafraid.
But the serpent came, shining and sly,
and with one choice, everything changed.
Golden leaves were gathered to cover her.
Not for style, but for shame.
And the Lord called out,
“Who told you that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11)
Still, even in the fall, beauty lingered.
Even then, love remained.
And the story—
was only just beginning.
How the Eve Look Came to Life
For the very first Kingdom Work look—Eve—I started with a simple tank top dress I scored on 50% off day at the ARC (aka my favorite kind of day!). I dyed it in a bucket to bring out soft, earthy tones that felt grounded and garden-like.
At first, I planned to attach fig leaf images to symbolize shame and that moment of realization in Eden... but it felt too on-the-nose. Then one morning, as I was heading out of our loft, I looked up at the flowers and gold leaves I had rescued from being tossed out. They were once trash—but something in me couldn’t let them go. I hung them on the wall, unsure of their purpose... until that aha moment hit: DUH!!! They were meant for this.
Earlier in February, while visiting our friends' cabin, I spotted a piece of folk art—a snake made entirely of bottle caps. I knew instantly it belonged in the show. It represented the Fall perfectly, with its shimmer and symbolism.
Everything clicked after that. I clipped the gold fan leaf to a thrifted belt, and added flowers with alligator clips so they can move freely between the dress and the belt.
And just like that—Eve came to life. 🌸🐍🌿
